Chili’n In Chama





Join us for our annual Chama Days Festival, August 11th thru 14th, 2022! This year’s festival theme is “Chili’n In Chama,” and we are definitely going to do that! Join us for a full line of activities, including a full rodeo; a men’s and women’s softball tournament; a battle of the bands; a kiddie parade; a fireman’s water fight; a scavenger hunt; face painting; outdoor drive-in movies, tons of vendors, the main parade, and more!
Rodeo:
This year’s rodeo is brought to you by Whitely Buckers. It is a full rodeo including a open bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie down, steer riding, jr bull riding, mutton busting, team roping, barrel racing, and more! Contact Whitley Buckers at 360-680-6787 to register for any of the events. All entries must be paid 1 hour before start time- cash only. $10 Administration Fee. $15 Specttaor Admission.
Softball Tournament:
This year’s Chama Day’s Softball Tournament is August 12th – 14th! It is led this year by Jeff Jiron, NM director of NCS. The tournament includes a Men’s Uppers division, Men’s Lowers division, and Women’s Open division. $300 entry fee per team paid to The Village of Chama. Deadline to enter is Saturday, August 6th. Parades:
Chama Days has 2 parades hosted by the Chama Valley Chamber of Commerce! Our Kiddie Parade will be held on Thursday, August 11th at 5:30 pm in Downtown Chama. This parade begins at the intersection of 1st Street/Hwy 17 and will go to the intersection of Terrace Ave/Hwy 17 (Rio Chama Espresso). The second parade (Main Parade) will be held on Saturday, August 13th. Participants are expected to meet at the Chama Elementary School to register, line up, and for judging. Particpants can participate as a competitive ($75), non-competitivee ($25), or as a politician ($60). 1st place will receive $400.00 cash, 2nd place will receive $250.00 cash, and 3rd place will receive $100.00 cash. Battle of the Bands:
This year the Chama Valley Chamber of Commerce is holding the first Chama Days Battle of the Bands! We welcome any Country, Classic Rock, Spanish, Indie Rock, etc.- no heavy metal, DJs, or Hip-Hop genres. Pre-recorded music will not be allowed. Those who want to participate must pay a $100.00 non-refundable entry free by Friday, August 5th. Bands will be judged based on time management, song quality and originality, stage management, band enthusiasm and attitude, and audience response. Chama Day’s Dance:
Don’t miss our official Chama Days Dance at Foster’s Hotel, Resturant, & Saloon on Saturday, August 13th starting at 8:00 pm. Musical performer Danny Duran will be our headliner with featured guest, DJ RJ. This is going to be a fantastic performance and you definitely don’t want to miss it!!
Fireman’s Water Fight:
Every year our Fireman’s Water Fight is a ton of fun! Held by our very own Chama Volunteer Fire Department. On Sunday, August 14 at 1:00 pm, watch as our fire department battles various fire departments in the surrounding areas in a take on of tug-a-war, except they’re using water! Who will be the best out of 3?? Come cheer on our heroes and may the best fire department win!
